Welcome to the Faculty of Business and Economics!
At the Faculty of Business and Economics we take pride in aligning ourselves with international business trends while being committed to Oman’s vision for development where sustainability, entrepreneurship and innovation are its main anchors. The Faculty of Business and Economics, Department of Logistics, Tourism and Service Management offers two undergraduate study programmes: International Business and Service Management, focusing on the tourism and travel sector, and Logistics. Within the wider framework of international business studies, these two programmes move elegantly between theory and practice bringing students in direct contact with real life business scenarios in these two important economic sectors. These two sectors are earmarked to lead the diversification process of the Omani economy and create the desired job opportunities for the future generations as per outlines of Oman’s vision 2040.
The Bachelor of Science in International Business & Service Management at GUtech is tailored to the requirements of the Sultanate of Oman and the region as it focuses on one of the strategic service sectors in Oman – tourism.
The tourism industry is currently one of the largest service industries in the world; employing approximately 10% of the global labour force and contributing to about 6% of world exports. Tourism shares the characteristics of many international service industries; for the Omani economy, however, it is unique as it offers the basis for a viable economic diversification and employment creation on the one side, and it is highly competitive due to Oman’s unique tourism product on the other. This programme will therefore equip you with business knowledge and skills focusing on this vital service sector. The programme will also consider tourism via the prism of sustainability; providing the skills and the knowledge that can ensure that growth of this sector will not be at the expense of the society
The Bachelor of Science in Logistics at GUtech was developed in close cooperation with RWTH Aachen University. It combines German state-of-the-art expertise with the local one to meet the requirements of the logistics sector in the Sultanate of Oman and the Gulf region.
The BSc in Logistics provides education in business and general management in combination with specialization in logistics, supply chain management, and transportation management.
