STRONG OMAN-GERMAN TIES
For more than three decades, Oman and Germany have enjoyed successful cooperation in the political, economic and cultural fields. Germans are the largest private investors on the Arabian Peninsula and are particularly attracted to Oman because of the country’s drive for modernisation and diversification, as well as its political, social and economic stability.

Over the past years, the two countries have cooperated over a high-profile archaeological project at Al Balid in Salalah, and Oman has become a popular destination for German visitors wanting to experience the country’s legendary hospitality and cultural heritage. This fruitful relationship between both countries has now been further cemented with the establishment of the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) in Muscat, a private university affiliated to RWTH Aachen University, Germany.

THE UNIVERSITY
Guided by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said's strong commitment to providing excellence in education for the country's youth, the German University of Technology in Omanwas established in collaboration with RWTH Aachen University to introduce to Oman and the region new, internationally recognised educational opportunities.

RWTH Aachen University was founded over 135 years ago and is one of the largest and most prestigious universities in Germany. It is a member of the elite IDEA League, a strategic partnership of five of Europe's leading research universities, including Imperial College London, Delft University of Technology, ETH Zurich University and the Paris Institute of Technology. RWTH Aachen counts approximately 30,000 students, of which more than 5,500 are from overseas.

Through its affiliation with RWTH Aachen, the German University of Technology in Oman aims at educating highly qualified and responsible-minded students according to German standards and with a firm grounding in Omani heritage. The degrees offered will be recognised both in Oman and the European Union, thereby offering a wide range of options for students' future careers.

RWTH Aachen draws its strength from nurturing close ties with industry in areas of research and development. The same emphasis on close linkages to industry will form a key pillar of the education at the German University of Technology in Oman and will prepare its graduates to contribute towards a growing economic and industrial base in Oman. Degree courses will be complemented by application-oriented education and training, giving all students hands-on experience in their chosen field. The university's quest for educational excellence will ensure strong employment prospects either in Oman or internationally.

GOALS OF GUtech
The goal of the German University of Technology in Oman is to educate highly qualified graduates with a strong sense of responsibility for business and industry, thereby addressing His Majesty’s commitment to providing society with the human resources it requires to thrive.

The university offers varied and flexible education and endows its students with the ability to solve complex challenges, explore new territory, approach established and new knowledge in a critical manner, and be open to achievement and learning skills in order to communicate and cooperate effectively. The language of tuition at the German University of Technology in Oman is English. Students wishing to improve their German skills will also be encouraged to do so.

German precision has gained a formidable reputation around the world and students enrolled in GUtech will be able to take advantage of that quality first-hand while enjoying the diversity, excellence and opportunities offered by a stimulating informative environment.
