2006

December
RWTH Aachen and Oman Educational Services signed the Memorandum of Understanding that will establish a University. The Ministry of Higher Education in Oman approved plans to establish GUtech.

2007

January
Ministerial Decision 9/2007 approved plans for the establishment of OGtech (Oman German University of Technology)

March
The Ministry of Higher Education in Oman grants permission to GUtech to open its Beach campus and start advertising for its programmes of study.

September
48 students joined GUtech and classes started from the Beach Campus in Uthaibah, Muscat, Oman..

2008

May
Ministerial Decision 70/2008 changed the University name from OGtech to GUtech (German University of Technology in Oman)

2009

June 
GUtech obtains international accreditation by ACQUIN for all Bachelor of Science programmes.

2010

September
Airport Campus opened its doors to all undergraduate students

2011

February
Groundbreaking kicks off for construction of GUtech permanent campus in Halban.

September
Launch of Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering and Process Engineering.

2012

February
GUtech adds Master of Science in Petroleum Geosciences to its portfolio of programmes.

October
Opening of GUtech permanent campus in Halban

His Majesty Sultan Qaboos pays a private visit to GUtech which reflects His Majesty’s encouragement to private HEIs.
GUtech holds the graduation ceremony of its batch of students.

2013

March
GUtech undergoes the first stage of Quality Audit by OAAA.

September
Introduction of Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental Engineering

2014

September
GUtech introduces Bachelor of Science in Logistics.

2015

September
GUtech adds another Bachelor of Science in International Business and Service Management (IBSM).

December
GUtech obtains international accreditation for three (2) BEng programmes, and re-accreditation for Bachelor of Science programmes.
