Year-Round Applications
We accept applications year-round for our foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes until the start of each intake or until all available slots have been filled by qualified applicants.
We have one intake per year, in September for undergraduate programmes, and one intake per year for postgraduate programmes, in January/February for postgraduate programmes.
Admissions Requirements
All students who are interested in a programme of study at GUtech are required to meet our admission requirements. We accept students with a diverse range of qualifications and backgrounds.
The admission requirements are different depending on the type and the level of programme you are applying for.
If you don’t meet our UG admission requirements, we can still accept you into the foundation programme.
We understand that some students may need to start with the Foundation Programme before progressing onto their preferred Bachelor programme.
The Foundation Programme of GUtech is offered by GUBridge and is tailored to prepare you for GUtech’s Bachelor Programmes. For example, the content of pure mathematics course is extensive comparing to other higher education institutions in Oman.
In a nutshell, GUtech’s Foundation Programme prepares you to:
- acquire mathematics skills and knowledge required for your preferred Bachelor programme,
- have a good command of English language as evidenced by a score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS,
- obtain the IC3 certificate, the Internet Core Computing Certification, that validates your computing skills you will learn in the Information Technology course.

For undergraduate programmes at GUtech you should meet specific entry requirements depending on your school leaving certificate and you may have to provide evidence of your English language ability.
General Education Diploma (GED)
To get direct admission in to one of our Bachelor programmes, you will need to meet minimum subject scores in GED along these requirements:
- Evidence of IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 76, or IGCSE/GCSE English language
- Pass in GUtech’s Mathematics direct entry test
- Pass in the Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) test at GUtech.
International Baccalaureate (IB)
GUtech accepts the International Baccalaureate Certificate and Diploma. To apply for direct admission, you should have achieved 24 points as a minimum overall points, in combination with individual scores in each of these subjects:
AGEO and All ENG | · At least 24 points in either IB diploma or certificate
· 4 HL or 5 SL Mathematics, but not mathematical studies. · Pass in both physics and chemistry at grade 10 level, as a minimum. |

You are able to get direct admission to one our undergraduate programmes, if you meet these requirements:

If you hold CBSE or ISBE school leaving certificate and you meet these requirements, you can qualify for direct admission to your preferred undergraduate programme:
AGEO and Engineering | · Pass grade 12 with minimum 70% overall marks
· Pass in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at grade 12 with minimum 70% marks |
CS | · Pass grade 12 with minimum 70% overall marks.

Other School Leaving Certificates
If your school leaving certificate is not listed in this page, we still want you to apply online. Our dedicated admissions team will certainly assess your application and documents and in many cases will be able to offer you a conditional or final offer letter.
Before applying online, please be aware that we only accept school certificates awarded after the completion of at least 12 years of schooling.
All international school leaving certificates will require a lettre of equivalency.
We process applications on a rolling basis, with a specific deadline for your preferred intake semester. The admission deadline for the Winter semester is 1 September of each year.
You are required to complete the online application and attach the required supporting documentation.
How to Apply: Foundation and Undergraduate Programmes

How to Apply: Postgraduate Programmes
Step 1: Start the application online

Step 2: Upload the following documents:
- Bachelor Certificate
- Bachelor Transcript
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Passport/Civil ID
- Evidence of English proficiency

Note: Within 3 working days admission team will follow up regarding your application & confirm your acceptance.
Step 3: Provide the following documents to the Admissions team:
- Original Bachelor transcript & certificate stamped by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE). *If you completed your Bachelor degree abroad, you will have to get the equalisation certificate from MoHE.
- 2 Passport size photograph (white background)
- Letter of references (academic or employer). Applicants to the double degree MBA must fill in this reference form by 2 members in the current organisation, and one of the must be the your current line manager.

Step 4: Attend the admissions interview
- The admissions interview may take place at GUtech campus or online.
- Fill in MoHE form for enrollment in postgraduate programmes at higher education institutions, and return it to the admissions team.
Subject to the outcome of the admissions interview, the admissions team will issue you an offer letter to you. You will have to accept the offer within the deadline mentioned in the letter.
It is possible for students applying for admission to GUtech to enter directly into the first year of undergraduate study, meaning you will be exempted from the Foundation Programme.
This option is offered to students who have IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 76, or have done IGCSE/GCSE English language; and who are willing to sit for direct entry examinations in Mathematics and Information Technology.

Besides the IT syllabus, we recommend that you use these slides to help you in your revision for IC3 test.

If you have never learned a topic in these syllabi, do not try and learn it now. Instead focus on revising topics you have previously studied.

Year-Round Applications for Any Upcoming Semester
We accept applications year-round for all programmes until the start of each semester or intake or until all available slots have been filled by qualified applicants:
- September and February intakes for foundation and undergraduate programmes.
- Flexible intake points for postgraduate programmes.
We recommend, however, that you complete your application at least four weeks prior to the start of the semester for the foundation and undergraduate programmes or the intake point for the postgraduate programmes.
To begin the process, complete the online application form and submit the required documents. Upon receipt of a completed application, your application will be reviewed. You will be notified as soon as a decision is made.
If you want to start your undergraduate degree in September or February, you can apply via HEAC ( only for Omani applicants wishing to obtain a scholarship) by making us one of your top choices.
Or you can apply direct for our undergraduate or postgraduate programmes online if you are a self-funded applicants. We accept direct applications up until shortly before semester starts .
If you are an international student needing a student visa, you will have then to complete your application at least six weeks prior to the start of the semester.
For postgraduate programmes, see individual programme page for the exact intake date as this varies from one programme to another.
No Waiting
We evaluate each application independently and will notify you whether you have been admitted after we have received all your application materials. We do not wait to notify all students at once.
