Energy Reviews to Identify and Reduce Energy Wastage at GUtech

GUtech undertakes formal energy reviews to assess campus energy performance and identify areas with high levels of energy consumption and wastage. In January 2023, a comprehensive ASHRAE Level 2 Energy Audit was conducted by Siemens across GUtech’s main campus facilities. The audit analyzed energy use patterns and identified significant inefficiencies, particularly in the chiller plant and HVAC systems, which accounted for 66.5% of total campus energy consumption.

Based on the audit findings, targeted Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) were implemented, including optimization of the chiller plant through Siemens Demand Flow technology, installation of BTU and energy meters for monitoring, cooling tower retrofits, and digitalized energy management. These measures addressed the primary sources of energy wastage, leading to an annual reduction of 1,564,963 kWh, 36.2% reduction in chiller plant energy use, and an estimated 783 MT CO₂ reduction per year. This review-and-action approach demonstrates GUtech’s commitment to continuous improvement in energy efficiency and responsible resource management.
