German university delegation visited GUtech

BARKA To enhance cooperation in research as well as academic exchange between both universities, the President and Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Bernd Engler of The Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen (Germany) visited GUtech on 3 November. The President of the university was accompanied by a delegation of professors of the university including Prof. Dr. Peter Grathwohl, Vice-President for Research, and Prof. Dr. Ruggero Vimercati Sanseverino of the University’s Center for Islamic Theology.

The Rector of GUtech, Prof. Dr. Michael Modigell and the Deputy-Rector for Administration and Finance, Dr. Hussain Al Salmi, introduced GUtech, its vision, development and current scientific research projects to the German delegation. This was followed by a visit to the different departments of the university, where they met the heads of the Departments of Urban Planning and Architectural Design, Engineering, Applied Geosciences as well as Logistics and International Business and Service Management and Urban Planning and Architectural Design. At GUtech students conduct study-excursions abroad and some students do their BSc thesis at GUtech’s partner-university in Germany, RWTH Aachen University. Currently more than 1500 students are studying at GUtech.

The Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen is one of the oldest universities in Europe. The university belongs to one of the eleven top universities in Germany. The University specializes in a number of fields of research: Neuroscience, Clinical Imaging, Translational Immunology and Cancer Research, Microbiology and Infection Research, Molecular Biology of Plants, Environmental and Geoscience, Astro- and Elementary Particle Physics, Quantum Physics and Nanotechnology, Archaeology and Anthropology, Language and Cognition, Education and the Media.
