Media Group
Media Group is an active and large club on campus, catering to beginner and expert photographers and everyone in between. It covers regular events for media purposes and provides workshops to help people improve their photography and video recording skills.
Bayraq Al-Adab (Poetry Club)
The club is designed to provide a forum where poets and members can share. It strives to encourage poetic expression on campus, both written word and spoken word. It aims to proliferate and inspire poetry not only in the members but also among the peers on campus.
The Talking Stick Club
The Talking Stick Club focuses on the following:
* Sharing opinions.
* Discussing national and international topics, learning to listen to others and be heard.
* Respect others’ opinions.
* The Club goal is building self-confidence; exposure to new topics and ideas; practicing and improving research skills.
Theater Club
Theater Club was established in 2013 /2014 with few members. The goals of the Club are;
1- Perform meaningful plays in GUtech’s events.
2- Represent GUtech in Theater Festivals and Competitions.
3- Develop communication, teamwork and leadership skills of the students.
4- Spread the Culture of Theater art among students.
The club works on the principles of one-family and mutual respect to achieve these goals. It has also succeeded in achieving many awards through its participation in theatrical festivals in previous years. The club won the admiration of top artists in the Arab world.
Barnass club
The aim of the Barnass Club is to spread the Arabic literature and attract other students to love the Arabic Language Also to spread the poetic culture among people who are interested in knowing about poetry and how it is written. Additionally, induce reading definition and importance of reading.
International Students Club
International Students Club aims to provide international students with the opportunity to experience and appreciate different cultures and promote international friendship. The club encourages everyone, including non-international students, interested in world culture to join the meetings and events
Students Media Center
The Media Centre was established in 2015 with the aim of covering and documenting GUtech Events. The goals of Student Media Center include: 1- Create a high media environment at GUtech.
2- Invest the creativity and the productivity of the youth.
3- Cover the activities and the events of the university.
4- Develop members skills in photography.
5- Keep the social media accounts active.
6- Support Students Clubs.
Community Service Club
Community Service Club aims at helping and benefiting the Public and Community.. Community service can have many positive effects on students, such as helping them to develop skills like communication and allowing them to improve the quality of life of others.
Goals:
– Organizing voluntary activities related to Community Service.
– Raise awareness about the importance of Community Service.
– Act as a link betwwen GUtech and the community.
Computer Sciences Club
A group of passionate students from The German University of Technology in Oman who are dedicated in spreading their enthusiasm in the field of Computer Science and Computing in general by hosting a range of international academic and social events. The aim of The Computer Science Club (CSC) is to raise awareness about latest technology aspects, organize tech-related events, get students involved in extra-curricular activities and share and spread knowledge.
Oman Sustainable Tourism Club
Full form goes here OSTC is a student’s Club concerned with the promotion of Sustainable Tourism development. The club was established in German University of Technology in Oman “Gutech” on the 17th of April, 2018 under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Heba Aziz.
Mission: OSTC aims to be a leading students’ club, focused on making the tourism sector a vehicle for economic, social and environmental sustainable development in the Sultanate of Oman.
Vision: To encourage Omani youths and local communities to embrace tourism as a vehicle for socio-economic development.
Engineering Club
The main aim of the Engineering Club is to organize a large Karting Race Event (20-40 students) for its Club Members at the Muscat Speedway Karting Circuit on each of the Tuesday afternoon student activities timeslots.
* To bring together like minded students, who enjoy watching Motor Racing, so that they may organize, outside of the club, to watch and participate in additional motorsport activities (e.g. watching Formula 1 races together or going karting as a small group of friends).
* To help to educate the wider student community at GUtech about the importance of driving safely and economically (i.e. only driving fast and racing in the controlled environment of a licence Karting Circuit, and driving in a way to reduce fuel consumption and emissions). * To organize Events and awareness activities that cover all of the Engineering Degree Programmes (Process, Mechanical and Environmental) at GUtech. Such Events and awareness activities are covered in the previous aims too, but since these are particularly focussed towards Mechanical Engineering students, the Club also aims to organize such things for Process and Environmental Engineering students too (e.g. Environmental awareness day for Environmental Engineering students).
Music Club
The Music Club is a community that combines different talents of students who share their passion towards music. The Club offers a platform that helps the students to showcase what they have and get the support from the university.
Applied Geosciences Club
GAC stands for German University’s Applied Geosciences Club. AGEO is an academic based group that aims to deliver a better knowledge of our world in a fun adventures and intellectual frameworks. To serve that aim we gather those who have a real interest in discovering more about our fascinating world and our beautiful Oman.
We seek through creativity of individuals and teams to deliver a better perspective on how people think about life itself.
This chance allows students to think, create, associate, hammer up and dig for knowledge to honor their time in university for great purposes.
Logistics Club
The logistics Club is open for GUtech students interested in keeping abreast of developments in logistics and supply chain in the Sultanate of Oman. Our main aim is to provide a positive and productive environment for our members and to share knowledge about logistics and supply chain with our target segments, including students from different educational institutions and the community in general.
Japanese Club
Japanese cultural Appreciation, JCA for short, aims to learn more about the Japanese culture, history and language. Japan is known for its rich culture, interesting events and enjoyable festivals. Learning a good foreign culture is always a good thing it makes a better man, and we are the bridge to this sort of activities. Through events and activities, we can conduct in this university will also widen the overview of japan and improve the relation between the two countries (Japan and Oman).
International Students Group
GUtech strongly supports internationalisation. There are students and staff members from about 40 countries studying and working in the university and it heartily welcomes every new member to the international community.
The International Students Group (ISG) at GUtech is a group of students from various majors and with different cultural backgrounds.
Their main aim is to bridge the gap between the different nationalities on campus in order to try to create an environment, where cultural exchange and expansion of knowledge can take place.
Besides assisting new international students in familiarising themselves with the university and in educating them about the Omani culture, the group also hosts and prepares various events and activities such as the “International Night”. Every new international student is welcome to join and be part of ISG.
The Student Expert Network
It is a group of students from the department of Urban Planning and Architectural Design (UPAD) at GUtech. It is the first group to join the Student Expert Network from the Middle East. This group is open to GUtech students interested in parametric Computer Aided Design. The members of this group explore Arabic patterns and geometry, sustainable design in extreme climates and urbanisation on the Arabian Peninsula.
A highlight was the student experts trip to Barcelona attending the annual student expert convention in 2012.
Video Gaming Club
The Video Gaming Club (VGB) is a platform for students to share and develop their passion for video gaming and its associated culture. The aim is to provide a friendly and welcoming environment so that Gutech students can come and share their passion for video games.
Theatre Club
The Theatre Club is a group of people coming together to enjoy and create theatrical performances. Its aim is to make performing more approachable and accessible to students, and create equal opportunities for all involved, foster and showcase undiscovered young talent at the University and to put on entertaining and quality performances for the University community.
