The German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) extends its commitment to water sustainability and community empowerment beyond the campus through educational outreach and research partnerships.
These activity reflects GUtech’s ongoing commitment to environmental education and sustainability, fostering the next generation’s understanding of responsible water management practices.
1- Hosting school students in the framework of World Water Day
World Water day is an annual international observance in March that focuses on the importance of freshwater and raising awareness about the global water crisis.
GUtech proudly hosted an educational awareness program for students from LFMI School, Muscat at the GUtech campus, focusing on wastewater management and water reuse. The initiative aimed to raise awareness among young learners about sustainable water practices, highlighting the importance of treating and reusing wastewater to conserve natural water resources.
Through interactive sessions and practical demonstrations, students gained insights into the operation of wastewater treatment processes, and the benefits of reusing treated water for irrigation and landscaping purposes.

2- Educational Opportunities for Local Communities on Good Water Management
Our university actively engages local schools and community groups to promote awareness of wastewater treatment technologies and sustainable water practices.
As part of our commitment to environmental stewardship and community empowerment, we host a range of educational opportunities that help participants understand the full water cycle—from consumption to treatment and reuse.

Campus Visits and Guided Tours
We invite primary and secondary school students, local youth organizations, and community groups to visit our campus water-management facilities.
During these guided tours, participants can:

School students visit the EcoHouse to learn how water is treated through a constructed wetland and then reused for tree irrigation and EcoHouse bathrooms.

School students visited the university’s wastewater treatment plant to learn about water treatment processes and explore opportunities for effective water management
