Deputy Rector of Administration and Finance

Hon.Dr. Hussain Al Salmi is member of the State Council of Oman (the Parliament) since Nov 2023. He is the Deputy Rector for Administration and Finances at the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) since 2009. As well he is the Chairperson of the Industrial Innovation Board. He is a member of several educational, research, and innovations boards and committees in the Sultanate, and he was a member of the Research Council.

Dr. Hussain holds another position as the CEO of Majd Group LLC (OES), a company that owns the Finland Oman School (FOS), Our Planet International School, and several other subsidiaries (non-educational) companies that are working in Information Technology, Engineering, Energy, Green Hydrogen industry, and Consultancy.

His academic background comes from law and legal studies. Prior to his position at GUtech, Dr. Hussain Al Salmi completed his LLM (Master of Law) in University of Newcastle (UK) in 2002, and his PhD in Constitutional and Human Rights Law at Manchester University (UK) in 2012.

He worked in different areas as researcher, legal consultant, and administrative manager.  Prior to his work at GUtech he worked as a Diplomatic Attaché in Oman’s Embassy in Saudi Arabia (1994-2006) and during that period he was handling the position of Supervisor of IT Projects in one of the Ministries for 7 years.
