The German University of Technology in Oman is pleased to announce the launch of the 1st GUtech Film Festival 2016. This competition will be held under the supervision of the University’s Board of Directors in
cooperation with the Film Festival Committee and Festival Chairperson, to support artistic talents in the field of filmmaking.
The Festival is accepting short films/videos of any, genre and topic from students and non-students of any age.
There is the special commercial category which encourages filmmakers to highlight GUtech University, titled “A Day in the Life Of GUtech”. This unique category aims to market GUtech. Make a short advertisement.
The committee will evaluate based on a detailed evaluation such as Story Telling 30%, Creativity and Originality 30%, Audience Engagement 20%, Technical Quality 20%- this has three subcategories (Audio, Music, Sound Effects 5% , editing 5% , Cinematography 10%). Further details are provided with each entry form completed.

“A Day In the Life Of GUtech”
Filmmakers who are unable to attend the awards show will be asked to create an award acceptance video to be shown at the event.
1- Multiple entries may be made, as long as each entry is preceded by its own slate of information. Films should be no more than 20 minutes long (under 10 minutes is preferable for programming reasons).
2 – Submissions may be made by submitting films/videos in person only to the official Film Festival Committee members.
3 – All submissions must be preceded with a slate that contains: title of work, student(s) name(s), school name, category of submission, length of work, and the date created. Acceptable formats for physical submissions include: QuickTime movie file on a DVD-R, flash drive, or downloadable QuickTime master file (HD format is preferred). You may also submit you film online if its size is less than 10MB or if you can upload it under Google drive and send the direct link.
4 – The participant undertakes that all films/videos submitted are owned by him/her.
5 – The participants bears the responsibility to obtain the approval of the people who have been filmed.
6 – By submitting a Film Entry, each Entrant, and in the case of a Film Entry Team, each member of the team grants the GUtech Film Festival a nonexclusive license to use the Film Entry, or any part thereof, in all media in perpetuity. Each Entrant, and in the case of a Film Entry Team, each member of the team warrants that it or they holds or hold all applicable rights in the Film Entry to grant this license. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes the entire Film Entry. Each Entrant, and in the case of a Film Entry Team, each member of the team acknowledges that, by granting the GUtech Film Festival this license, the GUtech Film Festival can use these entries in any marketing or promotional material in all media in perpetuity without liability to the entrant, including liability to compensate the entrant for their use.
- All films/videos must be in English only. Films from students and non- students in Oman, are eligible to submit films/videos. Staff who participate as crew or actors are not eligible for recognition or prizes.
8 – The deadline for submissions is May 8th, 2016
