Making Sur’s Souq more pedestrian focused

Abstract

The wilayat of Sur has been chosen as the capital of Arab tourism for 2024. Sur’s diversity in tourism resources, patterns and activities was one of the main reasons it was chosen for such a prestigious status The research aims to investigate how making the souq more walkable and perhaps a car-free zone would limit and decrease the constant trac congestion the area faces almost daily for both the locals and visitors to be able to enjoy as well as be comfortable when walking around since many rely on its shops for their essentials and daily needs.
