Energy Efficiency Measures
HVAC Optimization
The initiative introduces a comprehensive strategy to enhance the efficiency of GUtech’s chiller and cooling systems.
Key measures include:
- Retrofit of existing cooling towers with energy-efficient components
- Implementation of Siemens Demand Flow technology to optimize chiller performance and reduce energy waste
Smart Energy Management
Following the initial retrofits, the project will integrate Siemens Navigator, a cloud-based digital platform that enables real-time monitoring, data analysis, and optimization of building energy systems.
This digitalization allows continuous energy tracking and ensures sustained performance improvements.
Expected Outcomes
- 36% reduction in annual energy consumption
- 642 metric tons of CO₂ emissions avoided annually
- Enhanced operational efficiency through digital energy management
- Contribution to Oman’s Net Zero 2050 vision
Commitment
This joint effort between Siemens and GUtech demonstrates the university’s long-term commitment to reducing overall energy consumption and advancing sustainability within higher education.
Our university recent collaboration with Shell Oman to deploy EV charging infrastructure is part of our broader commitment to supporting the Sultanate’s energy transition and advancing sustainable mobility on campus and beyond. This initiative is mainly part of the energy-efficiency plan in place aimed at reducing overall energy consumption across campus.
