Marafiq and GUtech Partner to Build and Operate Innovative Social Complex in Duqm Using 3D Printing Technology

As part of a strategic partnership between Marafiq Duqm and the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech), Marafiq will sponsor the construction of the Marafiq Social Complex in Al Duqm, while GUtech will build the facility using advanced 3D printing technology and will undertake its long-term operation and management upon completion.

The Marafiq Social Complex stands as a flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, reflecting Marafiq’s strong commitment to advancing social, economic, and environmental sustainability in the Al Duqm region. Designed as a vibrant hub for community engagement and development, the complex will feature a nursery for children aged 6 months to 3 years, an autism centre, a children’s playground, a multipurpose hall, and shops supporting local SMEs. A dedicated women’s social building will offer empowerment and entrepreneurship programmes, complemented by a coffee shop and library that foster creativity, connection, and lifelong learning.

Aligned with Marafiq’s environmental stewardship, all wastewater generated within the complex will be recycled and reused for irrigation, contributing to green and sustainable landscaping that enhances the quality of life in the community. In a pioneering step for Oman, GUtech will construct the Marafiq Social Complex using advanced 3D printing technology, marking one of the first large-scale applications of this method in the country. This innovative approach highlights GUtech’s leadership in sustainable construction and technological innovation, setting a benchmark for future community-focused infrastructure across the Sultanate.

Through this collaboration, Marafiq and GUtech reaffirm their shared vision of driving sustainable development, innovation, and social progress in Duqm and beyond.
