UNESCO Chair at GUtech Participates in Launch of ‘Dive into Heritage’ Platform at World Heritage Committee Session in Paris

Professor Heba Aziz, UNESCO Chairholder for World Heritage at the GUtech, is attending the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

Dive into Heritage digital heritage platform was launched – the project is funded by the *Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and aims to increase digital accessibility to world heritage in the Arab Region

The Chair is a partner of this initiative; in that context the chair completed the digital documentation of Bahla Fort* and organized the first capacity-building workshop, which targeted over 30 participants from Arab countries and trained them in digital technologies.

The launch was attended by Her Excellency Amna Al Balushi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to UNESCO; His Excellency Abdullah Al-Tukhais, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to UNESCO; Ernesto Ottone, Assistant Director-General of UNESCO, along with a number of Arab and foreign ambassadors to UNESCO.

The platform features several World Heritage Sites in the Arab region.The UNESCO Chair expresses deep gratitude to the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation for supporting the digital documentation project, and to the National Commission for Education, Culture and Science for their ongoing support of the Chair’s activities.
