The double degree MBA for emerging leaders is jointly offered by the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) and the Executive Academy of Vienna University for Economics and Business (WU). The WU Executive Academy is part of Vienna University of Economics and Business, the largest university of its kind in Europe, with over 23,000 students from 110 countries.

The GUtech-WU MBA in Oman brings together the outstanding international status of the Executive Academy at Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) and the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) with its full understanding of the Omani economic landscape.

The double degree MBA in Oman is designed for professionals seeking to embrace current challenges in a complex and ever-changing business environment. It provides talented professionals with methods and knowledge necessary to become tomorrow‘s leaders in just 18 months.

The GUtech-WU MBA is offered in Oman at GUtech campus by a team of highly qualified faculty from WU Executive Academy and GUtech. Successful graduates will receive two MBA degrees, one from GUtech and one from WU Vienna that is accredited by the prestigious triple accrediting agencies EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA.

Structure

The double degree GUtech-WU MBA in Oman programme is designed to be completed in 18 months, and it is structured to impart knowledge through a diverse and exciting modular blended learning approach, including case studies, business simulations, presentations and interactive class work.

Modules are taught by highly experienced faculty from both universities at GUtech campus once a month over four days (Thursday – Sunday). The four days are supported by a pre-module and post-module phase.  You can opt to take some modules at the Executive Academy in Vienna and you will complete the programme by a Master thesis which you can choose to have it supervise by a faculty from either GUtech or WU Vienna.

Entry Requirements

Academic requirements: A recognised Bachelor degree.

Applicants without a Bachelor degree are required to:
  • hold a Diploma (or equivalent) of not less than 2 years of study be at least 25 years of age have a minimum of 6-years of work experience.
  • Minimum GPA: 2.5 on a scale of 4. Applicants with a GPA between 2.0 and 2.5 is admitted in exceptional cases.

Language requirements: Proof of English proficiency (e.g. TOEFL iBT 76 , IELTS 6.0, or equivalent).

General requirements: Three years of relevant work experience.

Applicants will be selected based on their academic background, skills, and work experience and an interview.

Fees & Scholarship

Application fee

A non-refundable fee OMR 100 is required prior to application being processed.

Tuition fees

The total tuition fee is OMR 15,000. This covers the 80 credit points of the double degree programme, including its course costs and exams. This amount is payable over three (3) times. For the schedule of payments, write to us at graduate.study@gutech.edu.om

Scholarship opportunities

Up to 50% scholarships available and tuition fees to be paid through instalments.

Through our “Preferred Partner Programme”, we offer scholarship opportunities to partner companies amounting to 50 percent reduction in fees. Contact us if you wish to find out how you, your colleagues, and your employer can benefit from our preferred partner programme.

We are happy that you have made the decision to apply to further your studies with us.

To process your application for admission, you will have to submit different documents that are needed either for our internal processing,  or for the WU Vienna Executive Academy use, or for the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) use.

If you wish to apply for the GUtech-WU MBA, please ensure you have digital copies of these documents (Set A)

  • Bachelor degree certificate.
  • Bachelor degree transcript.
  • Curriculum Vitae, showing at least 3 years work experience.
  • Proof of English language competency (IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 76 iBT, or equivalent).
  • Identification page of passport or Omani ID card, front and back.

The following documents (Set B) will also be required to finalise your application, but it can be submitted after your initial online application.

  • Original Bachelor transcript and degree certificate certified by the Ministry of Higher Education of the Sultanate of Oman if your degree was awarded by a university abroad.
  • Two reference forms*.
  • Bachelor approval confirmation from the Austrian Honorary Counsel if your degree was not issued in Europe.
  • Two Photos with white background
  • Proof of payment of application fee**

*Two reference forms are required, and one should be filled out by your current line manager.

Ready to apply

Are you ready to apply, please follow these steps:

Within three working days, our admissions officer will inform you on your eligibility based on the documents you submitted along your online application.

  • Submit set (B) of documents to the admissions officer who will inform you of the date of your interview with the director of the programme.
  • Show up for the admission interview
  • Fill in MOHE Application to Join a Master Programme and return it to the admissions officer. All higher education institutions are required to have this form sent to MOHE for their records to authenticating your Master’s degree certificate upon graduation.
  • Receive your offer letter by email.

** Note: It is extremely important for you to email the proof of payment of application fee to the Finance Office (copying the Admissions Office). Your application will not be processed until we have received and acknowledge the payment.

General Enquiries

Can I meet with the Master’s programme coordinator?

Yes, all enquirers and applicants are encouraged to meet the Master’s programme coordinator. You may request an appointment by sending an email to pg.eng@gutech.edu.om or calling 22061112.

Can I visit the University campus to have a look around?

Yes, you are most welcome to visit our campus in Halban. Our campus is located in Halban, off the last Maabila exist of the Muscat Expressway.

Does GUtech offer accommodation to graduate students?

Entry Requirements

What qualifications do I need to get entry into the programme?

A Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field of a reputable Omani or international university.

What is the minimum cGPA requirement do you apply to the Master’s programme?

No minimum cGPA is required.

Can I still apply if I do not have a relevant degree?

Yes you can still apply, the decision about eligibility of an applicant with a university degree different from Computer Science will be based on personal interviews.

Programme Structure

What study mode does the Master’s programme offer?

The programme is structured to be delivered on a part-time basis in a block courses format, over six semesters. Each semester encompasses fifteen weeks of teaching. Classes are scheduled during weekdays, from 2pm to 7pm, and on Saturday, from 9am to 5pm. For a detailed timetable, you may send your enquiry to pg.cs@gutech.edu.om.

How many credit points are required to graduate?

To graduate, you will required to successfully earn 120 ECTS credit points.

What are the term dates for the programme?

The academic year is made up of 2 terms. The duration of each term is 15 weeks. The first term begins in late February/Early March and ends in late June. The second term runs from October to January.

Some adjustments may apply due to public or religious festivities.

Can I receive a study plan in advance so that I can plan my time accordingly?

Yes, you may receive your relevant study plan and a timetable if you send your request to pg.cs@gutech.edu.om.

What specialisations are they part of the programme?

We offer you three specialisations to choose from for your future career:

  • Data Science
  • Technology Management

When will I be required to declare my specialisation?

You will be required to declare your specialisation at the start of the term.

Application Process

How do I submit an application and what documents do I need to provide?

Applications are received online. You may visit our page ‘apply‘ for the list of supporting materials.

How long does it take for admission process to be completed?

If you provide every document requested, and meet all entry requirements, decision can be taken in 3 working days.

Will the university be able to provide me with acceptance of admission paper to present to my company for funding purpose ?

Yes, offers are made in writing and we may send your offer letter to your employer if you provide us with the contact details.

Do I need to submit evidence of English language proficiency for my application?

Yes, a minimum IELTS of a band score of 6.0 or equivalent is required at the time of submitting your application. However, if you are awaiting the release of IELTS or an equivalent result, you may send an email to pg.cs@gutech.edu.om to advise you on how to proceed.

Credit Transfer

Do you accept credit transfers into the Master’s programme?

Yes, it’s acceptable

How many credits from my previous postgraduate courses can I transfer to the Master’s programme if I am accepted?

Up to 60 credit points can be transferred if the Ministry of Higher Education approves such a transfer.
